I’m not writing this to give advice.
There’s already enough of that — loud opinions, shortcuts, and people telling you what you should want out of life.
This is something quieter.
I’ve spent the last 18 years living abroad, mostly in China. Along the way, I’ve had to unlearn a lot of things I once believed were “normal” — about work, money, success, masculinity, and what a good life is supposed to look like.
Not because I had it all figured out.
But because the old script stopped making sense.
At some point, I realized most people aren’t unhappy because they’re failing — they’re unhappy because they’re following a path they never consciously chose.
This newsletter exists as a place to slow down and think clearly about that.
I’ll write here once a week — usually on Sundays — about:
Feeling behind in life (and why that might not be failure)
Using the system without letting it use you
Living abroad — the reality, not the fantasy
Midlife questions most men don’t say out loud
Building a simpler, more intentional life on your own terms
No hype.
No hustle culture.
No pretending I have it all figured out.
Just honest perspective from someone who’s still walking the path — with a little more awareness than before.
If this resonates, you’re in the right place.

What This Newsletter Is
This isn’t motivation.
It’s not hustle culture.
And it’s definitely not “get rich quick.”
This is a weekly reflection for men who feel like something is off — even if they can’t fully explain why.
John
